We can tailor our training and workshops to the needs of any organisation. However below are examples of the types of the training sessions we offer:

Supporting LGBTQ+ People and Making your Organisation Safer and More Inclusive

This training will explore the issues and challenges that Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Trans, or those who are unsure of their sexual orientation or gender identity, people face, how their mental health & wellbeing are impacted by these challenges, and how best to support them.

We will learn ways to make our services safer and more LGBTQ+ inclusive by exploring ways of identifying and challenging homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in the workplace.  Although trans/gender identity issues will be covers in this session, the emphasis of this course is more broadly aimed at the whole LGBTQ+ community, due to the fact we run a separate course on gender identity and trans issues, detailed below.

  • Examine relevant legislation and current LGBTQ+ definitions & terminology
  • Understanding and challenging stereotypes and myths about LGBTQ+ people and the impact of these
  • Explore how to prevent and challenge homophobic, biphobic & transphobic bullying and name-calling

  • Review the services and support systems available to LGBTQ+ people

Supporting Trans People and Making your Organisation Safer and More Inclusive

This training will explore the issues and challenges that trans and gender questioning people, how their mental health & wellbeing are impacted by these challenges, and how best to support them. We will explore ways to increase your confidence in supporting people to develop a strong sense of identity in the face of multiple marginalisation. We will learn practical ways to make your service, or individual practice, safer and inclusive by exploring ways to challenge transphobia and support trans people.

Benefits and learning outcomes

  • Explore a diverse range of trans & gender identities
  • Review relevant legislation relating to trans and gender identity and clarify your duties under the Equality Act 2010
  • Explore the challenges faced by trans people and the impact of these
  • Explore how to prevent and challenge transphobic bullying and name-calling
  • Review the support services in place to support people
  • Examine and review your service to improve its approach to trans equality
