What is the Allsorts LGBTQ+ Allyship Award?
The Allsorts LGBTQ+ Allyship Award provides organisations with training, advice and guidance to support them in creating and maintaining an LGBTQ+ Allies Team within their organisation.
We believe that having a designated LGBTQ+ Allies Team in your organisation will ensure better LGBTQ+ inclusion, stronger support for your service users and staff, and make your organisation a safer-space for all LGBTQ+ people.
An LGBTQ+ Allies Team will have an active role in your organisation to ensure any issues relating to LGBTQ+ inclusion are identified and appropriately addressed. Although the time-commitment can be fairly minimal, the impact can be huge!
How does it work?
LGBTQ+ Allies will be trained by Allsorts Training & Education Team through a general LGBTQ+ Awareness Training, possibly alongside other staff from your organisation, and then will undertake more advanced training in what it means to be an LGBTQ+ Ally and how to create your LGBTQ+ Allyship Team.
Initial LGBTQ+ Awareness Training
We require a minimum of 50% of all staff in your organisation undertake this initial training but we recommend all staff undertake the training, if possible. This training aims to provide participants with greater knowledge and confidence in understanding and supporting people from the LGBTQ+ community and how to be more LGBTQ+ inclusive.
LGBTQ+ Allyship Training
Following the initial LGBTQ+ Awareness Training staff can put themselves forward to become part of your Allies Team. Those who are selected will receive additional training focussing on what it means to be an LGBTQ+ Ally and how to create your organisation’s LGBTQ+ Allies Team.
Ongoing telephone support, information, advice and guidance
In addition to training, the LGBTQ+ Allies Team will have access to an agreed amount of ongoing support from the Allsorts Team through telephone or email support, information, advice and guidance. The amount of support will be agreed upon depending on the size of your organisation.
What does it cost?
The cost will depend on the size of your organisation as this will dictate the number of initial training sessions and ongoing support you will need. Please contact our Training & Education Manager for more information: firstname.lastname@example.org
How long does the award last?
The award is granted for a two year period starting from the completion of the LGBTQ+ Allies Training. As this is a fairly new Award we are still working on what happens after the two years, we will be working on developing a system where organisations can renew their award without necessarily having to undergo the full process again.
