Overview Allsorts youth project is a registered charity. Our charity number is : 1123014
Allsorts Youth Project Limited is a company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales, company number 4154118.
Allsorts is currently a limited company and is in the process of becoming a registered charity.
Allsorts was established in the February of 1999 and was for the first two years run by volunteers. At the end of 2000 Allsorts was successful in receiving a major grant from the Diana Memorial Fund. This funding allowed the employment of four part-time workers and set up a LGB Youth Support Team made up of a Project Coordinator and three Youth Support Workers. Allsorts currently employs five members of staff and is about to recruit a new administrative worker.
This team helped to develop the project to for the next three years. Since then Allsorts has received major funding from various organizations and charities that have included Comic Relief, Children in Need, Brighton & Hove Primary Care Trust, Brighton & Hove City Council and Connexions.
We also receive much smaller grants, some of which have enabled us to do the following:
- Facilitate a safe space for Allsorts members and information desk at Brighton PRIDE every year since 2000
- Run a total of 8 residential events for a total of about 130 young people since December 2000, the most recent being a womens' residential in the summer of 2006
- Facilitate a conference in 2003 to promote the work of Allsorts and celebrate the achievements of the first 4 years
- The publication of 'Deep Blue Sea', a collection of poetry and writings from Allsorts members
We are incredibly grateful for all of these grants, the small and the large, all which have made it possible to provide a number of opportunities for young people who otherwise might not have had the chance. We always welcome any further donations to help ensure we can run our services in the future.
Project Structure We are run by a management committee made up of local LGBT people and four young people who attend the project. We have conducted internal PQASSO quality assurance assessment and also received a major external evaluation in 2002.
