Health & Well-being

A-Sorted Workshops

A-Sorted is a health and well-being group that meets during the Allsorts drop-in on Tuesday evenings. Every year we run four programmes of four weeks for LGBTU young people, from 8pm – 9.30pm.

A-Sorted activities include games, discussions, and creative and peer led activities promoting positive mental health.

The featured image was painted by Christy Boxall as part of an A-Sorted programme. She says, ‘I love to mix up things. I find that art is a release and a portal to travel to different worlds. I gain inspiration from Dali and the Cubists for their extroverted use of colour and vivid imagination.’

In the current A-Sorted programme now running, LGBTU young people are creating a series of poems and hand-paintings. Here are some of their poems.

Who am I?

I love just like you,

I hurt just like you,

I dream just like you,

I hope just like you,

I wish just like you,

I make mistakes just like you,

I am like you in so many ways

but yet I’m unlike you,

I am my own person,

I am not your clone,

I am me

I am unique!

Allsorts is full of fun

Laughter will always come

Loyalty is there number one

Safe and collected

Other people chill together

Respect is  always brings us together

Togetherness we are

Solidarity is what makes us a group.

As the sunset begins,

the burning sea drowns.

The waves finish blooming

and the mood becomes still.

Sexual Health Advice & Support

LGBT Young people don’t always get information they need about negotiating sexual relationships safely.  Allsorts Youth Project provides a range of support and information about looking after your sexual health. We offer:

• Free Condoms and Dental dams (with our C-Card Scheme)

• Chlamydia testing

• Fast track appointments with a sexual health advisor from the Claude Nicol

• Screening for STI’s and general sexual health advice

• Referral information about other local services

If you need support you can contact Ben on Bendew@allsortsyouth.org.uk or you can call us on 01273 721211. Free condoms/dental dams are available at the drop in, you just need to get a c-card induction from a member of staff.
