Allsorts is looking for new volunteers!

February 27th, 2017 by

Allsorts is currently recruiting for LGBT volunteers to help run our weekly youth group.

We particularly welcome applications from BAME, trans and bi identified people, who are currently under represented in our volunteer group.

Volunteers help Allsorts staff run a supportive space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and unsure (LGBTU) young people aged 16-25.

Could you:

  • Help the staff team to run activities at youth groups (workshops, art projects, games etc)?
  • Help the young people to get involved in activities and offer them a supportive ear?
  • Help the staff team to set up and clear up afterwards?
  • Help prepare and serve meals for the young people?

Allsorts Youth Group is every Tuesday evening, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Volunteers ideally arrive at 5pm to help set up and finish at 9pm.

Volunteers are normally expected to volunteer at least two evenings a month for one year, although we do understand that this isn’t always possible so there is some flexibility!

Before volunteering you will receive training around a range of issues relating to LGBTU young people. We also offer both individual and group supervision and travel expenses.

We are also offering volunteering opportunities for fundraising and admin support in our busy office!

If you are interested or want more information, please contact Freya who will email you a form:

Closing date for application forms: 12 noon, 13th March 2017

Important Note:

The nature of the work will require you to work in different settings and diverse communities.

If for any reason you think this may impact on your own wellbeing, family or culture and may prevent you from applying for this post, please contact us to discuss your concerns confidentially.
