Jo Ansell

Jo

LGBT Youth Support Worker

I am Jo Ansell and I work for Allsorts Youth Project two days a week. I am one of the members of staff who co-runs the Tuesday night Drop In, I really enjoy meeting young people and getting to know them. I feel that I am privileged to be able to get to encourage and support young people to get involved with activities on offer at Allsorts and to also be part of organising and running activities that they would like to do.

I am involved in making sure that the women’s group ‘No Dress Code’ runs once a month, we work on campaigns, talk about issues that are important to us as women and we have the potential to go on trips out to women specific events or shows! I also co-run the TAG group for the under 16 age range and this is a brilliant opportunity for young people to meet up, get involved with activities, make friends and get support if they want to about anything relevant to them.

I am the Trans Youth Support worker for Transformers Youth group. Transformers aims to provide a safe, stimulating and non judgmental environment for young people who are trans or gender questioning.  We hope to provide a platform for young people to voice their opinions through discussion, art, games and simply by meeting and spending time with like minded individuals.
